Besserve et Sioule

Étape 1 : From the start sign, head towards the church and turn left down the road towards Chabassière. Go past the houses and follow the dirt track to a road.

Étape 2 : Follow it to the left, cross Bayet and then the railway line. Continue as far as the D523 (picnic area) and turn left for 100 m. Take the first turning on the left, then cross Besserve. After the hamlet and approaching the D 523 again, turn left onto the grassy path (signposted ‘Site de la Résistance’). At the small road, go left until you come out of the hamlet of Fournial.

Étape 3 : At the last house in the hamlet, turn right, then left at the fork 50 metres further on. Descend through the forest to a clearing on the banks of the Sioule. At the bend in the clearing, take the flat path on the left, overlooking the loop of the Sioule. After the hydro-electric power station, climb back up to the D 513. Turn right down this road and cross the hamlet of Chambonnet until you see the ‘Site de la Résistance’ sign.

Étape 4 : Turn left into the road, pass a stele and continue right along the path that runs alongside the Sioule and leads to the cascade des trois cuves. Retrace your steps and, at the stele, go right up between the houses in the hamlet. Cross the D 513 and continue uphill. At a fork in the road, continue left to rejoin the D 513. Turn left again to return to the starting point.
