Route description

This walk will introduce you to Giat’s important cultural heritage (Saint-Barthémy church, fountain in Place Saint-Barthélemy, foirail cross, etc.). All in all, a tour full of discoveries!

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step :

Étape 1 : Walk down through the foirail to the Place des Anciens-Combattants.

Étape 2 : Come down the stairs and take rue de la Fontaine.

Étape 3 : Turn right into rue Pierre-de-Giac * (or du cimetière) and continue left towards place de l’église.

Étape 4 : Cross the route de Crocq and follow the rue de la Clinique, fork off at the chemin des Eglantiers (on the right after the place du Crau) and join the route de Flayat. Turn right as far as the Route de Roure crossroads.

Étape 5 : Continue on Route de Roure as far as the Croix des Adieux.

Étape 6 : Take the track on the right and follow the signs as far as Route de Crocq. At the road, turn right and continue as far as the church square. Opposite the church square, turn right into a small lane leading to the cemetery.

Étape 7 : From the cemetery, turn right into rue du cimetière and, at the crossroads, turn left into rue des Lavandières.

Étape 8 : Continue until you reach the route de Saint-Avit and take the route de Granousse (behind the supermarket), then turn right up the rue des Buiges and turn before the crossroads onto the chemin de la Mine.

Étape 9 : Continue as far as Avenue du Stade, go around the stadium and, on leaving, turn left into Rue Joseph-Labas to reach the foirail.

For your safety, you can always have a bottle of water, a hat, clothes made of hot water and against the rain, and equipped with shoes adapted to the market.
