Route description

This hike will allow you to discover the Giatoise countryside and its many meadows and undergrowth. A lovely walk that will be rewarded by the panorama from the top of the Motte Castrale.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

Step 1 : Take the left-hand turn around the motte and go straight on for 50 m before turning right and then left.

Step 2 : At the junction, take the track on the right and continue until you reach
, where a track turns left just before the intersection with the road. Take this track on the left and continue for about 2 km until you pass a watering place.

Step 3 : Take a right on the road as far as the bend in the road, go up the track opposite as far as the departmental road 95, which you cross to take the track
opposite. Follow this track to the crossroads, turn left and continue straight on to the 3rd junction.

Step 4 : Turn right and continue straight on for 1.8 km until you reach the little house on the edge of the route de Giat. This section runs alongside the Ronzet forest estate. Turn left onto the road a little further on, take a path to the right through the woods, and a few metres later, turn right again at the next crossroads as far as the river.

Next step

Step 5 : Pass under the railway bridge on the right. Continue as far as a small road. Turn left onto a second road that leads to Giat on the right.

Step 6 : Cross the D13 and follow the signs to the motte castrale site.

For your safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm and rain-proof clothing, and wear shoes suitable for walking.
Depending on the weather conditions, some routes are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not passable, or even prohibited, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, stay on the designated trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your trash
