Route description

The Sans-Souci valley borders Châtel-Guyon, a charming spa town. Following the banks of the Sardon river, you’ll find yourself on wooded slopes. In hot weather, this pretty little route will keep you cool !

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

Step 1 : Du panneau de départ, s’engager sur un large chemin devant les dernières maisons. Ignorer le chemin de droite en face des barrières et entrer dans la forêt de Rochepradière. À la patte d’oie partir à gauche en longeant l’étang. Poursuivre sur un large chemin forestier, qui longe le ruisseau du Sardon. À l’intersection 50 m après le pâturage dans une clairière, monter à droite, jusqu’à une intersection . Obliquer à gauche jusqu’à une passerelle.

Step 2 : Franchir le ruisseau (panneau d’information sur la vallée et, à droite, AR possible en 15mn vers la cascade de l’Ecureuil), repartir à gauche et à la fourche aller tout droit. À l’intersection avec la route de Manzat partir en face rue Traversière. Place du Tilleul prendre à droite jusqu’à la place de la Fontaine (fontaine 1854).

Step 3 : Par la gauche, descendre la rue de la Fontaine, traverser la route de Manzat et emprunter la rue des Caires pour rejoindre le point de départ.

Access

In Châtel-Guyon (north-west of Riom), from the casino, follow signs for St-Hippolyte. Parking lot on the right, at the St-Hippolyte motorhome park. Fifty metres above the parking lot, turn right into rue de Sans Souci, then left at the bottom of the street to reach the start sign.
