Conjuguer la Nature, seven works of art by Thierry Courtadon, a renowned artisan sculptor, have been placed in seven communes : Chanat-la-Mouteyre, Volvic, Châtel-Guyon, Pulvérières, Charbonnières-les-Varennes (Veygoux), Saint-Ours-les-Roches (Beauregard), and Sayat. Chiseled out of Lava stone, they rise into the sky and adorn the land with a rocky finery as moving as it is original.

Sculptures along the trails…
Along the hiking trails, these sculptures are integrated into the landscape to make it even more beautiful… The blocks of volcanic rock rise up against the horizon, playing with the landscape : a waterfall in the middle of a grove, a field at the foot of a volcano, a river, a forest or a garden.

Artist Thierry Courtadon has named his sculptures with verbs according to their form and the environment in which they are placed. Ondoyer, Chuchoter, Rassembler… as if stone came to life.

1. CONTEMPLER
Chanat-la-Mouteyre, on the outskirts of town, near the wetlands.

2. GATHERING (currently not visible on site)
Volvic, lieu-dit Viallard.
“Playing with the horizon, it serves as a landmark to situate a celestial dream in space, a fragmentation constituted by the elements of the earthly landscape that stand out from the sky. If the horizon is missing, we replace it with a mineral dream…”

3. RESSURGIR (currently not visible on site)
Châtel-Guyon, Thermal Park.
“We had to expect one day or another one of those resurgences where lost lava suddenly reappears in the light of day, where forces that have become subterranean break through the wall of imagination…”

4. COMPRESS
Pulvérières, arboretum.
“A thrust, a violent emission of matter from the depths to the surface of the earth, suddenly producing a living feeling…”

5. SUSPEND
Charbonnières-les-Varennes, Manoir de veygoux.
“By developing the same liquid curve, touching the void and sinking into it, I unfold in its length, in its width, even in time, this matter that gives me the power to extend my dreams…”

6. CHUCHOTER
Saint-Ours-les-Roches, Beauregard.
