Since 1992, this pleasant walk has featured monumental contemporary sculptures in lava stone by Gilles Perez, which blend more or less into the landscape and nature. Additional sculptures have been added over the years.
– Many monumental sculptures in Volvic stone line the route.
– Small heritage features: stone crosses.
– The walls of an ancient castle.
– Sculpture workshop.
– The Auzelle stream and a waterfall.
– Off the route: the Virgin of Beaufort.
Étape 1 : From the start sign, walk up Rue des Bruyères behind the church, crossing Rue de la Chartreuse (D62). Turn left into rue Tiollet, then immediately right up the stairs. Place de la Mairie, go straight on, ignoring 2 streets on the left, cross Place du Patural on the left and then turn right. At Place du séquoia, turn left into Rue de Beaufort as far as a stone cross. Take rue des Pigères and keep left until you reach the road. Follow the undergrowth path opposite to the pontoon.
Étape 2 : Enter the pontoon and climb up into the beech forest opposite. After a meadow (sculpture of vertical elements), the path climbs to the right, past a ring sculpture. At the pond, climb left to the “fauteuils” site. Continue right to the track and right to the road. Turn left at the crossroads.
Étape 3 : Turn left towards “Vierge de Beaufort”. Climb the track, keeping to the left as far as the clearing (off the circuit: a track leads up to the Vierge de Beaufort on the left).
Étape 4 : Go straight ahead, then left, and follow the walls of an old castle. Go down to the track on the right (sculpture workshop) and continue to the D418. Turn left for 1 km. At a sharp left-hand bend, leave the road and turn right. At the next crossroads, take the second track on the left, opposite the cross. Rejoin the D62 directly opposite the Chapdes-Beaufort church, turn right then left into rue Saint-Joseph, and return to the starting point on the right via rue des Bruyères.
