Route description

Departure Salle polyvalenteFrom Clermont, direction Limoges – Volvic. At the Sayat junction, enter the town center. At the traffic lights, turn left into rue Gustave Fougère as far as the salle polyvalente.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

Step 1 : Departure from Salle Polyvalente. Go down rue Gustave Fougère. At the traffic lights, turn right, then 3rd left. Turn right onto the main road, cross it and take the left-hand path into the forest. Wind your way uphill through the woods (lair of the Gauls) until you reach the forest gate. At 200m, turn left. After 600 m, cross the railroad line and turn right. At the entrance to l’Etang, turn right at the four banal and cross the town via rue du Four, then rue des Pradeaux, skirting the château enclosure. At the left-hand bend, take the path opposite. At the main road, cross over and take the path parallel to the road. Continue uphill to Chanat along the Chemin des Cerisiers.

Step 2 : At the church, turn right as far as the cemetery. Take the footbridge to the sculpture. At the fire station, turn left. At the crossroads, turn right to the school. Continue straight ahead on the departmental road towards Egaules. At the end of Chanat (cross), turn right (leaving the farm on your right). Go straight on for about 500m, then turn right into the forest. Pass a remarkable tree. At the Y, take the first left downhill into the gully. Continue as far as the railroad (large embankment).

Step 3 : Turn left along the railroad. After approx. 1 km, take the third left. Before the road, take a sharp right-hand bend. Go downhill to the left towards the road. Turn right along the road, cross the railroad and take the first left. Turn right onto the grassy path. Cross the road and go straight ahead. Cross the road and continue along the Chemin des Vaux. Descend to Argnat. At the cemetery, turn right and continue to the village center.

Step 4 : Pass the church, then turn left into rue des Ecoles. Go straight ahead into rue des Vivets and bear right onto a gravel path. At the end of the track, cross the road. Go straight ahead through undergrowth and downhill to the road. Cross the road and head opposite towards Malauzat. Take the main road (D15) through the town center. At the roundabout, turn left, then immediately right into Rue des Chères (cross). Go straight ahead, past the stone blocks and cross the main road. Continue straight ahead. At the large crossroads, continue straight ahead. Ignore the paths to the right and left. Pass the old motocross track and the old underground cellar. At the left-hand bend, turn immediately right. Leave the forest and reach the telephone mast. Go around it, ignoring the paths to the right and left, staying on the main track until you reach the main road. Beware, heavy traffic.

Next step

Step 5 : Turn left along the road for 100 m, then right into rue Saint-André. Drive along the vineyards, through the housing estate. At the stop sign, turn left, exit Sayat and take the second turning on the right. Continue straight on until you reach the crossroads with the vines. Take the first right downhill. Go through a small wood. At the main track, turn right. Follow the river Bédat up to Sayat. At the T, turn right. At the intersection, turn left towards the Mairie. Opposite the Mairie, turn left into the Parc du Moulin. Go up the Bédat, under the road, around the oil mill, then up the road. At the traffic lights, turn right to return to the starting point.
