Route description

A pleasant stroll near the former Beaunit maar, now a narse (wetland) and crossed by the Ambène river. There are fine views over the puys of Paugnat, Nugère, Jumes, Louchadière, Tressous, des Bannières and the Tunisset quarry.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

Step 1 : Dos au panneau de départ, aller en face, puis à droite sur le chemin herbeux à droite de la maison. Continuer sur le chemin de terre (panneau thématique La Narse de Beaunit) et le suivre en longeant un pâturage (le maar). Poursuivre sur la droite pour atteindre un chemin transversal.

Step 2 : Se diriger à droite pour passer sur le pont. Monter tout droit et rester sur ce chemin (vue sur les Puys de Verrieres et Paugnat) jusqu’à une route. L’emprunter à droite pour rejoindre le point de départ.

Additional information

For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on weather conditions, certain itineraries are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your garbage.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.

Access

Beaunit is 22km north of Clermont-Ferrand. Start sign located at the junction of two small roads at the southern entrance to the village.
