The route then winds through the narrow streets of the cutlery town, offering views of Thiers’ medieval quarters, the Place du Piroux and the old city walls. You’ll cross the gardens of the old hospital, on the banks of the Durolle, before discovering the remains of the old forges and factories that made Thiers famous. The tour then continues through the lower town, before heading off towards the banks of the Dore, in the direction of Courpière. Please take care when driving through Thiers, especially on the steep slopes, to respect the peace and quiet of the inhabitants.
