They occupy the site delimited by the enclosure of the vanished castle, on a vertiginous ridge above the Saint-Hérent gorges.
Saint-Claire church is a Romanesque building dating from the 11th or early 12th centuries, with a double bell tower-wall. At the far end of the cemetery stands the conical roof of the Ynard tower, named after the 1st known lord of the place. It was long used as an ossuary. Below, on an inaccessible site, local tradition locates a grotto that is said to have sheltered Saint Herem, a 4th-century hermit.
