This exceptional site, at an altitude of 586 metres, is the perfect place to discover and admire the monument of Notre-Dame de Monton and the magnificent panorama that unfolds at its feet.
As far back as the mid-15th century, a stone cross marked the summit, and today an orientation table allows visitors to identify the sites visible from this perfectly laid-out belvedere. A historial welcomes tourists wishing to learn more about the statue (its erection, maintenance, annual pilgrimage, etc.), and the history of the village and its inhabitants.
At 14 m high, the statue of the Virgin of Monton is one of the tallest in France. It stands on a 7 m-high octagonal base, which has been converted into a small chapel. The statue measures a total of 21 metres and weighs 220 tonnes. Its right arm alone weighs 4 tonnes.
At the exhibition, descriptions in English and German. Groups welcome by appointment.
Religious objects for sale.
