Menhir De La Croix St Roch

Saint-Nectaire

This megalith takes its name from the iron cross dedicated to St. Roch, which was placed at the top of the monolith.

Like many megaliths, this is a fine example of a “pagan” monument and cult reclaimed by the church. A small stone altar still stands at its foot. On this altar, “other” relics were placed during a procession (now forgotten) that took place on the Sunday following the feast of Saint(…)
