Farming and the extraction of peat for heating purposes have degraded the bog. Its restoration aims to conserve a diverse landscape and encourage insect populations.
Extensive grazing has helped biodiversity to thrive.

Accès
From Clermont, head for La Bourboule via Rochefort-Montagne and Laqueuille.
Then follow La Tour-d’Auvergne on the D203, cross the village and turn right on the D129 for 7 km towards La Pruneyre.
After the hamlet of Le Jouvion, park in the parking lot on the left.
