Lembron is a geographical and historical region encircled by the Allier valley to the east, the Cézallier to the west, the Sancy foothills and the Alagnon valley to the south. This route takes you through the southern part of this territory, as well as part of the mining basin on the other side of the Allier. You’ll go from a region of fortified villages and medieval castles to a territory marked by coal mining. On this itinerary, you’ll discover how the people who live in this area have used it in many different eras. From the Gallo-Roman site of Croix de la Pierre to the coal mine headframes, from the Merovingian occupation of Saint-Germain to the construction of Saint-Gervazy castle in the Middle Ages, this loop will take you through time.
