A pleasant and very accessible mountain bike loop taking in unspoilt riverside scenery and the wide-open spaces of the plateau

Starting from Les Palisses in Pont-du-Château (under the Allier bridge), the mountain bike version of the ‘From the Allier to the Cortal Plateau’ route offers a smooth and varied ride to the east of the town. Combining shaded stretches along the river with open sections across the plateau, it’s the perfect route for a relaxing off-road ride or to get back into the swing of things.

Highlights of the mountain bike route :
• Banks of the Allier & Heritage : Set off from the heart of the riverboat town before following the wild river, its cliffs and the remains of old mills.
• The Cortal Plateau : Gain some height on smooth farm tracks offering unobstructed views of the volcanic domes of the Chaîne des Puys and the Limagne plain.
• A very accessible route : A route with gentle terrain, consisting of smooth tracks and small secondary roads with no technical difficulties whatsoever.
