A very easy, family-friendly mountain bike loop through woodland and across wide meadows, starting from the Goules car park

Setting off from the Goules car park in Orcines, this very accessible mountain bike ride is perfect for an introduction to off-road cycling or a family outing in the heart of the Chaîne des Puys tectonic area (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Following easy trails through woodland and mountain pastures, the route offers a very gentle gradient, rewarded by superb panoramic views.

Highlights of the mountain bike route :
• The view from the Croix de Ternant : Reach this prime vantage point offering unobstructed views over the Limagne plain, Clermont-Ferrand and the surrounding hills.
• Silhouettes of the volcanoes : Cycle at the foot of major volcanic peaks with beautiful views of the Puy de Pariou, the Puy des Goules and the Grand Sarcoui.
• A very accessible route : A smooth, even route with no technical difficulties, perfectly suited to children and beginners on mountain bikes or e-MTBs.
• Recommended extension for the more fit : Option to take an additional detour (with a steeper climb) to the Sarcoui cave and the Puy des Goules.

Departure point : Parking des Goules, direction “Monlachat”.

Difficulty : Very easy ; steeper climb for the off-route to grotte du Sarcoui and puy des Goules.
