On this guided walk, you’ll step back in time with Blaise Pascal, whose experiment on atmospheric pressure at the summit of the Puy de Dôme revolutionized the way we do science. You’ll also discover that, at the end of the XIXᵉ century, the summit was home to France’s first mountain meteorological station.

We’ll explain that today the site is a mecca for research into the composition of the atmosphere : the internationally recognized Observatoire de Physique du Globe is part of a global network for collecting data on atmospheric compounds.

We’ll also tell you about the astonishing meteorological phenomena that occur at the summit : sea of clouds, Brocken’s spectrum, striking thermal contrasts between the city and the heights… Not forgetting a captivating introduction to seismology and volcanology, for a better understanding of this territory shaped by the forces of nature.
