The Village Of Sauxillanges – Clunisian Site

Sauxillanges

This small active town with several good restaurants has maintained the souvenir of the former monastery.

In the 13th century, this monastery, which had become a priory, reached its peak with the abbey church of Saint Pierre, the large cloister, the monastery buildings, the chapel of the prior adjoining a second cloister. Even if few elements remain, a careful observation of Sauxillanges makes it possible to find this organization.
The Heritage House, which takes place in the former chapel of the Prior, traces this wonderful history.
