Route description

On this walk, you’ll reach Berzet overlooking the Gorges de l’Artière. On the way back, you’ll have a view of the Sancy mountains and the wetlands.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

Step 1 : From Escapad’, head towards the church, then take the gate to access the Gorges de l’Artière, then head towards “Ceyrat” (right-hand path).

Step 2 : At the fork in the road, at the signpost, turn left towards “Ceyrat Mairie / Côte du Berzet”.

Step 3 : At the signpost, go straight on towards “Manson / Berzet”.

Step 4 : In Berzet, turn left towards “Manson / Source de l’Artière”. Continue as far as the Berzet chapel, then turn left through the village to return to Saint-Genès-Champanelle.

Next step

Step 5 : Just before leaving Berzet, take the right-hand track. At the end of this
follow the road for about 1 km (with care).

Step 6 : Pass through the wetland picnic area, and take the opportunity to observe the biodiversity present. Then climb back up the narrow track to reach Escapad’.

Access

Road access to L’Escapad’ – 1 chemin du Château – 63122 Saint-Genès-Champanelle Le Bourg.
From Clermont-Ferrand, take the N89 via Beaumont, Ceyrat, Saulzet-Le-Chaud then Theix.
Continue on the D90 to Saint-Genès-Champanelle Le Bourg or via Royat, Charade, Manson then Thèdes (D90).
