In the forest, in the heart of the Tournebise valley, discover the site of the old cheese cellars of Saint-Pierre-le-Chastel, where Laqueuille blue cheese was matured for nearly a century. A footpath connects the site to the old hamlet of Les Chazaloux.

An exceptional natural site, the ice holes of the Chaîne des Puys retain ice until summer. Around 1840, some were converted into maturing cellars where the production of the famous Laqueuille blue cheese would later be perfected. There are two ways to access the site: park at the start of the ‘Cheire de Tournebise, Les balades de Léa et Tino’ hike (marked with yellow butterflies), follow the trail and you will come across the cellars along the way (after about 2 km). Park near the cellars at the entrance to the forest, go to Rue Bannières and follow the wooden signs marked ‘les caves’.
