Lac de Guéry

Orcival

A mountain lake of volcanic origin located in the Monts Dore at an altitude of 1,244m, it is the highest lake in the Auvergne. The site is classified as a sensitive natural area. It has been the property of the Puy-de-Dôme departmental council since 2021.

It is framed by the Banne d’Ordanche, the Aiguillier massif and the Tuilière and Sanadoire rocks. With a surface area of 25ha and a depth of 16m, it was created by a lava flow that blocked the course of a torrent coming from the puy Gros.
