A former volcanic chimney cleared by erosion, made up of nuggets of rock formed when hot magma meets water on the surface of the ground.
The major interest of this site lies in its rich biodiversity, with over 300 species of flora studied since the 19th century, insects with over 70 species of butterflies and over 25 species of orthopterans, the majority with a strong southern affinity (some of which are on the red list).
The site is now protected because of its fragility and the exceptional diversity of its flora and fauna.
To be discovered only on the signposted path starting from Monton.
