The Sancy Loop: Hiking in the heart of the Massif du Sancy

Set off on an adventure in the heart of the Auvergne mountains with the Boucle Sancy, a flexible long-distance hiking route with several circuits ranging from 39 to 85 kilometres.

As you immerse yourself in the Auvergne, you'll discover iconic landscapes such as Lac Pavin, Lac Chambon and the Puy de Sancy (the highest peak in the Massif Central), as well as towns with character such as Le Mont-Dore, Besse and La Bourboule.

If you follow these signposted trails, you'll also have the chance to cross two protected natural gems: the Chaudefour and Chastreix-Sancy nature reserves.

Routes to suit all walkers

The Boucle Sancy offers several options, ranging from 2 to 6 days' walking, depending on the distance you choose and your starting point:

  •  The Sancy East - Besse Loop (starting from Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise / 60 km). Discover
