The Via Allier (V70) cycle route: discover Auvergne by bike

The Véloroute Via Allier (V70) takes you on a beautiful journey across the Massif Central, from north to south, between Nevers (where the Allier joins the Loire) and Langogne, at the gateway to the Lozère. This route follows the peaceful course of the River Allier, offering a remarkable natural setting punctuated by characterful villages, rolling countryside and the Auvergne volcanoes as a backdrop.

Stages of the Via Allier (V70) in Puy-de-Dôme

The route crosses the Puy-de-Dôme in 5 stages over 112 km, from the Limagne plains in the north to the typical hilltop villages in the south of the département. Today, most of the route is on shared-lane roads, low-traffic roads or cycle lanes, and can be ridden on mountain bikes, road bikes, touring bikes or Gravel bikes. Sections of the route are gradually being converted to greenways.

The Via Allier is wilder and more undulating than most cycle routes.
