The 10 km-long coulée dominates the southern part of the Limagne plain, rising alongside other landforms such as the Gergovie plateau. The plateau’s rich landscape, rural character and ecological and cultural heritage make it one of Clermont-Ferrand’s most attractive sites.
A major site for observing migratory birds, the Plateau de la Serre is also an outstanding natural setting. Thanks to its diversity of exposures and altitudes, this mountain is made up of the inverted relief of a deciduous forest. A large number of protected species find refuge here.
The site is also a land of history, with castles, medieval remains and small rural heritage.
Hiking trails have been laid out on the plateau, allowing you to discover the treasures of this atypical site between the Dômes and Limagne.
