Starting from the Espace Loisirs du Lac d’Aydat, mountain bike circuit no. 6 – La ronde des Puys offers a captivating route that takes you right up close to these stone giants. Set in the heart of the Chaîne des Puys tectonic region (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), this ride is ideal for mountain bikers seeking challenging terrain, technical riding and spectacular scenery.

Highlights of the mountain bike route :
• At the foot of the volcanic formations : Ride around a succession of uniquely shaped puys (domes and craters with gaping mouths) throughout the ride.
• A variety of environments : Alternate between cool forest tracks, crossings of ‘cheire’ (lava flows covered in vegetation), beech woodlands and wide open spaces.
• A varied and challenging route : A fine variety of terrain featuring steady climbs, smooth sections and technical descents over volcanic terrain.

Difficulty : blue – moderate
Wearing a helmet is recommended. Remember to bring plenty of water and dress appropriately for the changes in temperature at higher altitudes.
