Starting from the Espace Loisirs du Lac d’Aydat, mountain bike route No. 9 – Pierre Longue invites you on a rejuvenating escape in the shade of tall trees. Set within the unspoilt surroundings of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park, this route offers a perfect balance between volcanic landscapes and historical remains.

Highlights of the mountain bike route :
• The Pierre Longue menhir : Near the hamlet of Fohet, discover this famous granite megalith standing in the heart of the volcanic landscape, a fascinating remnant of prehistory.
• Crossing the Cheire d’Aydat : Ride along this ancient lava flow, now overgrown with dense forest, offering particularly pleasant and cool trails in summer.
• An accessible and enjoyable route : A lively yet smooth loop, alternating between rolling forest tracks, narrow dirt paths and passages through typical hamlets built of lava stone.

Difficulty : Blue level – Moderate
Wearing a helmet is recommended. Please respect the menhir site and stay on the marked paths when crossing wooded areas.
