Starting from the Goules car park in Orcines, this accessible walk invites you to enjoy a peaceful break in the heart of the Chaîne des Puys, a world-renowned tectonic site (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Winding through a mosaic of unspoilt landscapes alternating between wooded areas and wide meadows, the route offers magnificent views of the surrounding volcanic domes.

Highlights of the walk :
• The view from the Croix de Ternant : From this prime vantage point, enjoy a breathtaking, unobstructed view of the Clermont-Ferrand conurbation, the Limagne plain and the Forez mountains (an ideal spot for sunrise or sunset).
• Volcanic silhouettes : Throughout the route, admire the striking views of the Puy de Pariou, the Puy des Goules and the Grand Sarcoui.
• A very accessible route : A gentle loop with no major difficulties, perfectly suited to families and novice walkers.
• Winter alternative : When there is snow, the route is ideal for snowshoeing.

Departure point : Les Goules parking lot, direction “Monlachat”.

Difficulty : very easy (more demanding only for the off-course to Sarcoui and puy des Goules).
You must stay on the marked paths to protect the pastures and sensitive natural areas. Keep dogs on a lead.

The trail is also suitable for snowshoeing in snowy weather, offering a winter atmosphere ideal for families and beginners.
