A route offering striking contrasts between the wild Artière Gorges and the open landscapes of the plateau

Starting from the southern exit of Ceyrat (car park by the Artière bridge, heading towards Saint-Genès-Champanelle), the ‘Artière Gorges and the Redon Plateau’ route offers a wonderful immersion in nature on the outskirts of the urban area. This highly varied route takes you from the outskirts of the town to unspoilt, wild areas, alternating between the shade of the woodland and the light of the high plateaus.

Highlights of the walk :
• The wild Artière Gorges : A gentle, cool ascent alongside the water, from the Robinson area to the Saint-Genès-Champanelle stream.
• The Redon Plateau : A walk through an area stretching between the Val d’Auzon and the Artière, characterised by landscapes of pastures and moorland.
• Spectacular panoramic views : Superb, unobstructed views of the line of volcanoes in the Chaîne des Puys (UNESCO) and the Monts du Forez on the horizon.
• A wide variety of environments : A stimulating mix of wetlands, sections under canopy and more open terrain.

• Signposting : Yellow circles in both directions
• Transport access : T2C bus (line 4, ‘Robinson’ stop)

A lovely, sweeping route with no steep gradients (a gentle, steady climb alongside the stream). Make sure you wear good walking shoes.
