Route description

A 114-kilometre loop, the GR®441 takes six days to discover the famous volcanoes of the Chaine des Puys: a group of volcanoes located in the Parc Naturel Régional des Volcans d’Auvergne to the west of Clermont-Ferrand.

Departing from Volvic in the north, passing Vulcania and the summit of the Puy de Dôme, we will discover the sumptuous landscapes formed by these craters, which look as if they are still active.

Trail highlights

– You can opt for a shorter version (3 or 4 days), via the Col de Ceyssat / Olby (GR® 441 A) or Récoleine / Olby (GR® 441 B) junctions, with a choice of either the northern or southern part of the Chaîne des Puys.
– In summer and winter alike, the Chaîne des Puys offers breathtaking scenery.
