The GR® 4 runs from Grasse (Alpes-Maritimes) to Royan (Charente-Maritime). The 150km route crosses 13 départements, including the Puy-de-Dôme.
This section of the GR® 4 crosses the Puy-de-Dôme from north to south, skirting the Monts Dore and Monts Dômes before joining the Sioule and finally ending at Crocq in the Creuse.

Depending on weather conditions, some routes may not be passable in winter.

Dogs allowed Dogs must be kept on a leash. Dogs are common in the Auvergne Volcanoes Natural Park. However, dogs are strictly forbidden in the Chastreix-Sancy Nature Reserve.

The starting point for the GR® 4 is Egliseneuve d’Entraigues in the Puy-de-Dôme department.
