Lac d’Aydat, the largest natural lake in the Auvergne and awarded the Pavillon Bleu label, offers an unspoilt environment in the heart of an exceptional volcanic landscape. Bordered by forests and surrounded by reliefs formed by the ancient flows of the puy de la Vache and the puy de Lassolas, it’s an ideal place for relaxation and outdoor recreation.
Swimming is authorized and supervised in July and August, every afternoon from 1:30 pm to 6:30 pm, in a safe, equipped area. Outside these times and during the summer months, swimming is not supervised and is prohibited by prefectoral decree.
The beach offers a wide range of facilities to help you make the most of the site:
– Children’s playground
– Shaded picnic area
– Volleyball court
– Public toilets (6 a.m.-midnight)
– Showers in summer
– Motor home area
In the immediate vicinity of the beach, you’ll also find :
– the Aydat Sailing School, ideal for practicing or discovering water sports (catamaran, dinghy, paddle…)
– the Tourist Office, a practical point of contact for advice, maps, ideas for activities and information on the whole area.
As well as swimming, the lake is popular for its walks, natural areas and varied water sports. The beach is also non-smoking (bylaw no. 2023-41), to ensure cleanliness and comfort for all.
