Starting from the Lac d’Aydat resort (Sauteyras – Volcans Mountain Bike Base), Mountain Bike Trail No. 12—Hameaux de Rouillas—offers a beautiful 11-km loop through the foothills of Montagne de la Serre.

Highlights of the mountain bike route :
• Heritage exploration : Ride through the two historic hamlets of Rouillas-Haut and Rouillas-Bas, which offer a glimpse into rural architecture built with lava stone and life in days gone by at the foot of the Puys.
• The unique landscape of La Serre : Ride along this famous inverted relief (petrified lava flow), offering superb views of the surrounding valleys and the Chaîne des Puys (UNESCO).
• A pleasant, shaded route : A well-balanced trail that winds through rolling forest trails, small farm roads, and sections through the woods.

Difficulty : Black Level – Very Difficult

Despite the similarity of their names, these two villages each boast a unique cultural and historical heritage that you’ll find fascinating to discover on this mountain bike ride.
